ECU Tuning service provided by our tuning partners GKR Performance.
This service can be completed on an ECU that you send to us, or an ECU that you buy from our shop.
We have 2 services:
‘Hardware Changes Only’
This can include, if requested, the following changes:
- Automatic or Manual Conversion
- EGR removal
- MAF sensor removal
- DPF removal
- Speed signal removal (usually without a speed input the engine will stop revving at 4,000 rpm)
- Limiter changes
‘Full Tune’
All of the above plus Stage 1 or stage 2 performance tuning (See our Engine and Tuning page for power estimates for your engine).
Swirl flaps do not need mapping out, remove your swirl flaps but leave the swirl flap actuator plugged in.
Maps are created to your specification so it is paramount that you include any relevant information. Any modifications to the map due to information that was not provided will be charged at full rate. We will not cater for hardware upgrades such as hybrid turbos other than map sensor changes.
Please note, a stage 2 map on a 184/193hp ECU will require a 3 bar map sensor upgrade, which can be found in our shop.
By purchasing this product you acknowledge the risk that tuning an engine may highlight weak or failing components, some of which could cause damage to your engine if they fail (such as turbo seals).
Since this product is custom, please allow up to 2 weeks from receiving your ECU in order for the work to be completed. In most cases it will be less.
Note:
Sensors you should keep
- MAF sensor – This can be removed but needs modifications in the ECU map.
- Boost temp sensor – Found in the boost pipe between the intercooler and inlet manifold of M57N/M47N engines and later. It is important this is kept to enable the ecu to accurately calculate AFR (Air/Fuel ratio).
- Lambda sensor – Found in the exhaust downpipe of M57N/M47N engines and later. Should be kept to enable live AFR adjustments.
- EGT (Exhaust-gas temperature) sensor – Found in the exhaust downpipe of M57N/M47N engines and later. Should be kept to allow for EGT protection.
- Swirl flap and EGR vacuum solenoids – Keep these plugged in even if you have deleted the valves. We have seen this cause intermittent boost issues by being unplugged.
